Beer Lover's New York
I started writing about beer with my husband Giancarlo in 2009. We started a blog called BeerUnion, where we wrote about the burgeoning craft beer scene in New York City. We published regularly, grew a social following, and became active members of the community of beer writers and brewers.
In 2013 an editor at Globe Pequot Press found our blog and reached out to us. He invited us to write a book in their "Beer Lovers" series, Beer Lover's New York–and gave us a deadline four months away. We spent the next four months traveling around New York State, from Eastern Long Island, to Buffalo, to the Adirondacks, visiting breweries, brewpubs and bars.
We split the writing of the book equally, and once first drafts were written of each piece, I went through to edit it for style, tone and voice. I took accompanying photographs throughout our travels. The book was published in February of 2014.

"Do not even think about visiting the Empire State without it! And it proves that New York is about more than the city. Beer-wise, there's far more to discover Upstate than in the Big Apple and this should encourage visitors who like a good pint to venture well beyond NYC. The Anneses have created the perfect road map for the thirsty traveler."

"These guys (guy and girl) really did their research! They nailed it! The fact that they went to each and every one of these breweries is awesome. Def a pick up if you live in NY. Whether it be in the NYC area or the Albany area. Nothing but the good craft stuff."
